The Job Summary:

• Pay: £475 – £500 per week, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees

Interviews for this role are commencing immediately but it is a Full time, Long term role starting in September 2023 and will be ongoing throughout the academic year.

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking a Graduate Sports Coach to join one of our Specialist Provisions, a Pupil Referral Unit in the London Borough of Lewisham, Catford Hill. This is a Behavioural School which also has pupils with Special Educational Needs which include ADHD, ASD and SEMH.

The Requirements:

• You must have a Sports Coaching or relevant degree
• You must have experience working alongside/coaching children
• You must be able to work on your own initiative
• You will need to have experience working with 10+ children at a time
• You will need to be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to aiding their academic attainment

Within this role you will be required to support the PE Teacher in a Specialist Setting, a Pupil Referral Unit. You will be responsible for assisting the PE Teacher in planning lessons, setting up/collecting equipment and supporting the PE Teacher in delivering the sessions. You will need to follow the schools behavioural and safeguarding policy and assist in managing challenging behaviour, ensuring the smooth running of sessions and trying to encourage pupils to engage with the learning. You will need to liaise with the Class Teacher, the SENCO and other in school professionals such as occupational therapists, to ensure pupils are receiving the necessary support. You will need to collect pupils from class to take them to the sports hall, and then back to class ensuring calm behaviour in the corridors.
