Here at Ortus Recruitment we have an amazing opportunity for a Sports Graduate to gain invaluable experience working with children in a Mainstream Primary School located in the London Borough of Southwark, Peckham Rye. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and are seeking someone who is passionate about working with children as well as being dedicated to helping them develop both academically and behaviourally.

The Ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has experience working with children either employed or voluntary (work experience placements). Someone who is looking to begin a long term, rewarding career in education. The ideal candidate will need to have a sports degree or a relevant childcare degree, with a sporting background. The ideal candidate will need to be able to easily build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff. The ideal candidate must be able to lead practical PE sessions when needed, and have the confidence to work 1:1 and in small groups with learners who need additional support.

Requirements:

• Must have TWO obtainable childcare relevant references
• Must have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment
• Must live in the UK and be able to reliably commute
• Must have Right to work and Proof of address documents

Within this role the successful candidate will be required to assist the PE Teacher in delivering PE sessions to pupils across the school, from EYFS to Year 6. You will be responsible for collecting the pupils from class, getting them changed and ensuring they all have water for the lesson. Whilst in the lesson, you will be responsible for assisting the PE Teacher in maintaining good behaviour and encouraging the pupils to engage in the learning. You will be required to lead 1:1 and small group PE interventions with learners of different abilities who need differentiated sessions. You will also be tasked with undertaking administrative duties such as setting out the equipment for the sessions, helping the PE Teacher assess the level of pupils for their grades and providing feedback to Class Teachers and parents about their academic and behavioural progress.

• Pay: £85 – £95 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees

• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)
