Ortus Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a well-regarded and ambitious primary school in Wandsworth that is looking to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant immediately. This is a full-time, long-term role where you won’t just be observing lessons, you’ll be an integral part of the classroom, actively supporting pupils to raise attainment and build confidence in their learning. The position offers £93 – £107 per day (PAYE), with working hours from 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. The school is looking to secure someone straight away, so applicants must have no notice period or a maximum of one week’s notice.

About the role

In this role, you will work closely with class teachers to deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions, helping pupils strengthen their understanding in core subjects. You’ll support lesson preparation, assist with classroom organisation, and contribute to creating a focused, positive learning environment. You will also play a key part in supporting pupils’ behavioural and educational development, offering encouragement, structure, and consistency throughout the school day.

Requirements

This opportunity is ideal for a graduate who holds a degree in any subject and is considering teacher training in the future. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential, as well as the ability to build positive relationships quickly with pupils and staff. Previous experience working with children… whether in a school, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth setting will be highly advantageous. Most importantly, the school is looking for someone proactive, reliable, and genuinely enthusiastic about education.
