Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Streatham that is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil in Year 2. In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to support a child in Year 2 with their learning, confidence, and engagement throughout the school day. You will play an important part in helping the pupil access the curriculum, develop positive learning behaviours, and feel supported within the classroom environment. This is a full-time, long-term role offering excellent exposure to classroom practice and pupil support. This position is also ideal for a graduate considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN, or child development.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing consistent 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil
• Supporting learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
• Helping to reinforce literacy and numeracy skills
• Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
• Supporting social and emotional development
• Assisting with classroom routines and transitions
• Feeding back observations to teaching and support staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A degree (any subject, 2:2 or above preferred)
• Previous experience working with children (school, tutoring, youth work, coaching, or similar)
• A patient, calm, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine interest in education and child development
• The ability to commit to a full-time, long-term role
