Ortus Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a welcoming mainstream primary school in Streatham, who are seeking a motivated and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA to play a key role within the school’s inclusion hub while providing high-quality classroom cover when needed. The school holds a strong reputation locally and offers a warm, collaborative environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will:

• Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to help create an engaging and supportive learning environment
• Prepare lesson resources and organise classroom spaces to aid smooth delivery of learning
• Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist with monitoring and recording pupil progress
• Contribute fully to school life, including assemblies, breaks, lunchtime duties, story sessions, enrichment clubs, and wider curriculum activities
• Attend training, staff meetings, and CPD opportunities
• Lead before- or after-school enrichment sessions
• Support with school events such as fairs and evening functions

Requirements

To be successful, you should have:

• HLTA qualification or strong experience in a comparable role
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to be fully involved in the wider school community
