Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in the London Borough of Lambeth, currently seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team, with a specialism in Physical Education ( and a commitment to supporting students with SEN.

This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent, offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic HLTA who is keen to make a real impact on student progress and well-being in a supportive school environment.

The Role:

• Support the delivery of high-quality PE lessons across Key Stage 3
• Work closely with teaching staff to adapt activities for students with SEN
• Provide 1:1 or small group support during physical education sessions
• Assist with planning, preparation, and supervision of physical activities
• Promote inclusion, independence, and physical confidence in all learners
• Maintain strong communication with the wider teaching and support team

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A minimum BTEC qualification in a relevant subject area (or equivalent)
• At least 2 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA
• Strong understanding of the Key Stage 3 PE curriculum
• Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, or other SEN needs
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and classroom support skills
• A confident, flexible, and proactive approach to learning support
