KS1 KS2 Teaching Assistant

Job Description:
Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 & KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in Hounslow. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about supporting children’s education and development, particularly those with additional needs, to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, organisation, and delivery.
  • Offer tailored 1:1 and group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting students’ social and emotional well-being.
  • Help maintain classroom behaviour and foster an engaging and safe environment.
  • Provide feedback on pupils’ progress to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Support students during break and lunchtimes as required.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of supporting children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum for KS1 and KS2.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, adaptability, and the ability to build rapport with young learners.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3).
  • Experience with phonics programmes and intervention strategies.
  • First Aid or additional SEN training (e.g., Autism Awareness, Team Teach).
