Ortus Recruitment is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a KS1 Learning Support Assistant to join our partner mainstream primary school based in Earlsfield. This role involves working with a Year 1 class, supporting children with varying learning needs, including some with special educational needs (SEN). The position is full-time with an immediate start available and is a great opportunity for recent graduates or childcare professionals with a performing arts background, who seek a career within education.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience supporting children, ideally in a similar role, such as in SEN or early years education.
• A background in performing arts is desirable but not essential – creativity and a lively approach to learning will be an asset in this role.
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one immediately).
• A ‘Can-do’ attitude, ready to engage with children and staff in a positive, supportive way.
• Passion for supporting young learners and helping them reach their potential.
• Flexibility and a commitment to working full-time: Monday – Friday (8:30am – 4pm).

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting a Year 1 class: Helping the class teacher with daily activities and ensuring every child has the support they need.
• Providing 1:1 support to a child with SEN, assisting them in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting independence.
• Delivering interventions to help enhance the learning of children in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
• Assisting with classroom administration such as marking, homework management, and keeping track of reading diaries.
• Promoting positive behaviour and supporting the child with any challenging behaviours they may exhibit.
