KS1 Support Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Wandsworth, currently seeking a committed and proactive Key Stage 1 Support Assistant to join their team immediately. This full-time position involves working closely with a Year 2 pupil who presents challenging behaviour, as well as providing general support across the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience or interest in child development, behaviour support, or primary education to gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one support to a Year 2 pupil with behavioural needs
- Assist the class teacher with daily classroom routines and activities
- Carry out tailored interventions and learning support tasks
- Help monitor and encourage positive behavioural choices
- Support the wider class as needed during learning and playtime
Requirements:
- Ability to start immediately with no notice period
- A valid Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the update service or be willing to apply for one via Ortus Recruitment
- Relevant experience working with children – such as tutoring, youth work, coaching, or school-based roles
- Two child-related references available upon request
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills – minimum GCSE Grade C/4 in English & Maths
- A recent graduate or someone with relevant qualifications in education or childcare is highly desirable
