Ortus Recruitment is excited to announce the chance for a reliable and proactive individual to take on the fulfilling role of 1:1 Teaching Assistant in a mainstream Primary school in the London Borough of Barnet – a vibrant area filled with an abundance of shops, cafes, parks and public transportation links.

The role will entail you working on a 1:1 basis with a child who has autism and ADHD. The child is impulsive and requires someone who can implement the interventions and strategies needed to maintain his focus. As well as this, he needs someone to aid in his social and emotional development as he struggles with his social skills. The child is high-achieving and has the ability to do the work, he just requires someone to give him the motivation to do so.

1:1 Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

• Work 1:1 with a child with ASD and ADHD
• Encourage participation from pupils and support them where necessary
• Liaise with parents and assist class teacher effectively
• Manage behaviour effectively
• Engage students confidently with the curriculum and help raise attainment

Main Expectations:

• 3+ months experience supporting in a classroom setting
• SEN experience particularly ASD/ADHD
• Level 3 qualification or a degree in a relevant subject e.g. psychology or education
• Strong numeracy/literacy skills
• Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
