Ortus Recruitment is currently supporting a respected mainstream primary school in Brixton in their search for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to provide tailored, one-on-one support to a pupil in Key Stage 2, ensuring that their unique learning needs are met and that they can flourish within a supportive and structured environment.

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to implement personalised learning strategies, foster positive behaviours, and encourage the pupil’s academic and social development. The child requires support with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. Your contribution will be key to their success and overall growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated, one-on-one support to a pupil, ensuring their learning is appropriately tailored to their needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher to develop and deliver engaging, interactive lessons that capture the student’s interest and facilitate learning.
• Adapt and create learning resources to meet the individual educational requirements of the pupil.
• Build and maintain a strong, positive rapport with the pupil, promoting confidence and fostering emotional growth.
• Monitor the pupil’s progress, providing valuable feedback to the teaching team to inform future lesson planning and support strategies.

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within a Key Stage 2 setting, with a strong understanding of supporting pupils with additional needs.
• A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to supporting their learning and development.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with a desire to engage in ongoing professional development.
• Knowledge of supporting children with autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs is highly desirable, but not essential.
