Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking someone who is an experienced Learning Mentor to join one of our thriving mainstream primary schools located in the London Borough of Southwark, Dulwich. The school are keen to hire someone who is enthusiastic about the prospect of working closely with pupils, providing them with additional support in an attempt to raise their academic attainment.

The Job Information:

• Position: KS2 Learning Mentor
• Pay: £85 – £95 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Southwark, Dulwich
• Role: Full time, Long term, Monday- Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

Requirements:

• You must have experience either working in a school, supporting pupils or transferrable skills such as tutoring
• You must have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent
• You must be confident and experienced in delivering 1:1 and/or small group interventions, providing additional support to pupils who are behind on their core subject attainment levels
• You must be able to easily build a positive rapport with both pupils and staff
• You must be passionate about working with pupils and dedicated in aiding their development both academically and behaviourally
• YOU MUST HAVE TWO OBTAINABLE CHILDCARE RELEVANT REFERENCES
• YOU MUST HAVE A CLEAR ENHANCED CHILD WORKFORCE DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE OR BE WILLING TO PROCESS ONE THROUGH ORTUS RECRUITMENT – £52

Main responsibilities:

• You will be required to work across the whole of KS2 providing additional support to pupils who need 1:1 work to improve their academic attainment
• You will be required to liaise with Class Teachers in order to provide feedback on pupils academic progress
• You will be responsible for escorting pupils through the corridor, to their next lesson. You will need to maintain calm and appropriate behaviour whilst going through the school building
• You will be required to undertake administrative duties, which include marking class work/homework, laminating and photocopying classwork and updating display boards
• You will need to liaise with professionals within the school, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists to ensure pupils are receiving the necessary support
• You will need to provide feedback to Parents/Carers on the pupils academic and behavioural progress
