KS2 Teaching Assistant
A reputable mainstream primary school based in Streatham, rated ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted, is seeking an experienced Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and challenging behaviour. This full-time role (Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 16:00pm) offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates with relevant experience in supporting children, or for individuals with a background in working with children with special educational needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all pupils receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils in KS2, including those with special educational needs.
- Assist with classroom management, promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create and implement effective learning strategies.
- Monitor and record the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student development.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and challenging behaviour).
- A passion for working with children and a commitment to enhancing their learning experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent).
- Recent graduates with a background in education or psychology are encouraged to apply.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
