We have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join one of our top clients (Mainstream Primary School) on a full time, long term basis, with an immediate start. This role is advertised as a role throughout the entire academic year but it depends on performance. The school is Ofsted Rated Good and they are seeking to improve upon this rating by creating a positive working environment amongst staff by holding fortnightly staff wellbeing meetings.

What you need to have:

• A clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
• TWO obtainable childcare relevant references
• Minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Math

What we need from you:

• You will need to have experience working alongside children, ideally in a school based setting but we will accept transferrable experiences (coaching, nannying, tutoring)
• You will need to have a ‘Can do’ attitude
• You will need to be passionate about working with children and dedicated in helping them develop life skills
• You will need to be able to easily build a rapport with both staff and students
• You will need to be able to commit to full time, long term work with an immediate start
• You must be able to reliable commute to Blackheath

What you will be doing:

• You will be responsible for assisting the class teacher in supporting a year 5 class as a general teaching assistant
• You will need to follow instructions from the teacher as well as working on your own initiative
• You will be responsible for escorting the class to and from different lessons, encouraging calm behaviour in the corridors
• You will be required to undertake administrative duties such as marking classwork/homework as well as updating and removing display boards
• You will need to liaise with both the class teacher and parents/carers and provide feedback on pupil progress
