Ortus recruitments needs an experienced and exceptional Teaching Assistant to work with children with severe learning difficulties, sensory impairment, physical difficulties, ASD, PMLD and complex medical needs.

Our partnered mainstream primary school is a progressive, lively and fun school for children with complex needs, which includes children with severe learning difficulties, autism and profound multiple learning difficulties.

The school is made up of many parts, firstly the amazing pupils, its teachers, teaching assistants, administrative staff, health professionals, premises staff and of course parents and carers. The school has a ‘’Good’’ Ofsted rated report and they are now looking for a genuine and motivated Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is a full-time position (Mon-Friday 08:30am – 16:00pm).

We are looking for Teaching Assistants with:

• energy and enthusiasm for their role
• commitment to a pupil centred philosophy
• experience of working in Special or mainstream education with children with complex medical needs
• a desire to motivate and inspire all pupils
• a passion for working with complex needs children
• excellent classroom practice
• experience of or willingness to train in meeting pupils medical needs including tracheostomy care
• the ability to take responsibility for supporting teachers in the delivery of pupil’s education
• a flexible approach to meet changing priorities

The ideal candidate will:

• Degrees in Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Education, Drama and Performing Arts are ideal

Please note we welcome applicants with degrees beyond this or relevant qualifications for working with children

• Have experience working with children/ young people

(Youth Work | Mentoring | Tutoring | Childcare | Voluntarily)

• Be friendly, confident, outgoing, reliable and be a positive role model
