As a Teaching Assistant, your role will be vital in supporting autistic pupils within the classroom. You will help them build the skills they need to succeed academically and socially, while also contributing to their independence and confidence. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Learning: Provide one-on-one, paired, and small group support to pupils with Autism, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and feel engaged in the learning process.
  • Assisting with Classroom Behaviour Management: Support teachers in implementing behaviour strategies and creating a structured environment for autistic pupils. Help manage and reinforce positive behaviour, ensuring pupils are engaged and focused. Assist with individual behaviour plans and provide consistent support to maintain a calm and productive classroom.
  • Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a safe, calm, and engaging classroom atmosphere where pupils feel valued, supported, and understood.
