Ortus Recruitment is partnering with a well-regarded primary school in Southfields to find a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil. This is a full-time, long-term position where you will provide one-on-one support both inside and outside the classroom, offering mentorship, guidance, and assistance in helping the student overcome behavioural challenges.

The school’s Headteacher is looking for suitable candidates to trial after February Half-Term break. As this role involves working with pupils who experience behavioural difficulties, prior experience in managing and supporting children with challenging behaviour is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one-on-one support to the pupil both within the classroom and in other areas of the school
• Assisting in managing the pupil’s challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner
• Encouraging and supporting the pupil’s academic and social development
• Collaborating with the Class Teacher to deliver appropriate lesson support
• Fostering positive relationships and promoting emotional wellbeing

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
• Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and productive way
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A valid DBS registered with the online update service (or willingness to apply for one)
• Empathetic, adaptable, and confident when working with children with complex needs
