About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a vibrant and inclusive primary/secondary school in Croydon. As an LSA, you will work closely with classroom teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or speech and language difficulties.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
- Assist the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
- Help prepare learning materials and resources.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
- Support inclusion and ensure all pupils feel valued and supported in their learning.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar education support role.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent).
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and/or qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate.
- Experience using behaviour management techniques or supporting pupils with EHCPs.
