Job Summary:

• Role: Full time, Long term, Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join one of our thriving and vibrant mainstream primary schools on a full time, long term basis. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and they have managed to maintain that over the past few years by providing a positive working environment for staff as well as a diverse and inclusive learning environment for students.

The ideal candidate must have:

• A clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
• TWO obtainable childcare relevant references
• Minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Math

Requirements:

• You must have experience working alongside children in a care, residential, school or social setting
• You must be able to commit to full time, long term work throughout the 2023/2024 academic year
• You must have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent (desired, not essential)
• You must have a ‘Can do’ attitude
• You must be passionate about working alongside children and dedicated to aiding their academic and behavioural development

Main Responsibilities:

• You will be required to assist the Class Teacher with supporting pupils in a small year 5 class
• You will need to be able to work under pressure and think quick on your feet in challenging situations
• You will be responsible for escorting pupils from one class to another and ensuring calm behaviour
• You will need to liaise with the class teacher and the parents/carers to provide feedback on pupil progress
• You may be required to undertake administrative duties such as marking classwork/homework, photocopying/laminating worksheets and updating/removing display boards
