Ortus Recruitment is currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. This role is ideal for someone experienced and confident in supporting children with Special Educational Needs within a classroom environment.

The successful candidate will be caring, patient and empathetic, with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on children’s learning, wellbeing and development while progressing their career in education.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assist children with classwork and homework tasks.
• Support pupils’ physical, emotional, social and mental wellbeing (SEMH).
• Encourage participation in group learning activities and classroom tasks.
• Help prepare learning resources and carry out basic administrative duties such as printing and filing.
• Maintain a tidy and organised classroom environment when required.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents and pupils.
• Provide additional support for SEN pupils both individually and in group settings.
• Assist with after-school clubs and enrichment activities when needed.
