Ortus Recruitment is currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. This role is ideal for someone experienced and confident in supporting children with Special Educational Needs within a classroom environment.
The successful candidate will be caring, patient and empathetic, with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on childrenβs learning, wellbeing and development while progressing their career in education.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
- Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist children with classwork and homework tasks.
- Support pupilsβ physical, emotional, social and mental wellbeing (SEMH).
- Encourage participation in group learning activities and classroom tasks.
- Help prepare learning resources and carry out basic administrative duties such as printing and filing.
- Maintain a tidy and organised classroom environment when required.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents and pupils.
- Provide additional support for SEN pupils both individually and in group settings.
- Assist with after-school clubs and enrichment activities when needed.
What Weβre Looking For
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom setting (face-to-face preferred).
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- A dedicated and compassionate approach to working with pupils with diverse needs.
- Flexibility and resilience when responding to challenging behaviours or situations.
