Ortus Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brixton, seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time and long term basis. This role will initially be based in a specialist SEN provision within the mainstream primary school, supporting pupils with complex needs — particularly those with communication and interaction difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). All children in this provision have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and are supported by a dedicated team committed to inclusive education.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible and willing to work across different areas of the school, ensuring that vulnerable children receive consistent and high-quality support tailored to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated support to pupils with complex special educational needs
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
• Contribute to engaging, inclusive learning activities that meet the diverse needs of pupils
• Support the implementation of personalised learning and behaviour plans
• Assist with the delivery of individual and group interventions
• Promote a safe, nurturing learning environment that reflects the school’s inclusive values

Requirements:

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Prior experience working with children with SEND and/or complex needs
• Strong understanding of strategies that support children with autism and communication difficulties
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider school community

• Good organisational and time-management skills
