Ortus Recruitment are currently working with a welcoming, inclusive primary school based in Kennington, who are looking to appoint a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of supporting pupils with additional learning needs. The role will involve working closely with pupils who have mild learning difficulties and speech and language delays, both within the classroom and in small intervention groups. The school is particularly keen to hear from candidates who are confident in using, or open to learning, Makaton, BSL, or other non-verbal communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support pupils with additional needs, helping them to engage and thrive in class
2. Work collaboratively with class teachers to deliver a creative and inclusive curriculum
3. Implement structured interventions to support communication and learning
4. Create a positive, supportive environment tailored to individual learning styles
5. Monitor and document pupil progress, feeding back to staff and SENCo

Requirements:

• Level 3 CACHE (or equivalent) qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning
• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with speech and language difficulties
• Strong communication skills, patience and adaptability
• A proactive, team-player mindset with a passion for helping children succeed
