PMLD Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is looking for a Learning Support Assistant in the area of Bromley to work in a Pupil Referral Unit. We’re looking for a motivated individual who is ready to take on a new challenge. You’ll be working with children who have Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). You’ll be working with a group of children in a classroom environment, ensuring they interact with each other and create positive relationships. These children are ready to develop their skills and learn with a supportive Learning Support Assistant.

This Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) carries a high reputation in its area. It’s known for its excellent resources and staff. The resources provided to you will help develop the children’s learning and ensure that they’re engaged during lessons. The children aren’t able to attend mainstream schools because they have behavioural difficulties. This means that creating a strong relationship with them is very important. The staff are experienced professionals who are willing to help and support you along the way. They’ll ensure that you integrate well with the team and support you with building relationships with the children.
Required Skills
- Excellent at adapting to new environments
- A good understanding of children with behavioural difficulties
- Have a strong passion for helping children
- Be very organised
- Restraint training (Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA) not essential
