Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Hanwell. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to assist in delivering a high standard of education for our primary school students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to children’s learning, development, and well-being within a nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in preparing lesson materials and resources.
  • Support individual students or small groups, including those with SEN, to achieve learning objectives.
  • Provide 1:1 support for students who require extra help, ensuring that their specific needs are met.
  • Foster a positive learning environment and help manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
  • Monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents where appropriate.
  • Assist with the assessment of pupils, contributing to progress reports and other necessary documentation.
  • Support with classroom organization, setting up activities, and tidying up after lessons.
  • Accompany students on school trips, ensuring their safety and participation in activities.
  • Participate in whole school activities and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
  • Deliver interventions or targeted support for groups as directed by the teacher or SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support, helping to create a safe and caring environment for all students.

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to support children with diverse needs, including those with learning difficulties.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work flexibly in a busy school environment.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring the safety of all pupils at all times.
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • A passion for helping children reach their full potential, academically and personally.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • Experience in supporting SEN students is highly advantageous.
  • First Aid certification is beneficial.
