Ortus Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and proactive graduate teaching assistant to join an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rated primary school in the vibrant and diverse Lambeth area. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide support for students, including leading small group instruction and assisting with classroom management.

This is a full-time position, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 08:30am till 16:00pm. The successful candidate will be expected to work during term-time only.

Lambeth is a popular residential area located just south of the River Thames, with excellent transport links to central London and beyond. The area is home to a mix of traditional and modern architecture, with a range of shops, restaurants, and other amenities on offer.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom management
• Lead small group instruction and provide individualized support to students
• Supervise and engage students during independent work times
• Attend professional development workshops and team meetings
• Assist with the preparation of materials and resources for lessons
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement strategies for supporting the learning and development of students with special needs
• Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, such as Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body
• Ability to be patient and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment
• Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred, such as volunteering in a classroom, working as a camp counsellor, or serving in other relevant childcare roles
