The Role:
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of students in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. You will help to create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, assist with classroom activities, and provide support tailored to individual student needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and managing the classroom environment.
- Work with students one-on-one or in small groups, providing targeted support, particularly for those with SEN such as autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties.
- Assist in preparing and adapting learning materials to suit the needs of students with SEN, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum.
- Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs), tracking progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
- Help to manage classroom behaviour, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to support students with behavioural challenges.
- Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging their confidence, participation, and love for learning.
- Provide sensory and emotional support to students with SEN, ensuring their well-being is prioritised.
About You:
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive individual who is eager to support the learning journey of primary-aged children, particularly those with SEN. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children in a primary school or similar educational setting, particularly with SEN students.
- A good understanding of the primary school curriculum and the ability to adapt support strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A flexible and positive approach to working within a team environment.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are desirable.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is highly valued.
