The working hours for this position are 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
The Role:
The role will involve supporting students in both small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Flexibility, proactivity, and a patient, nurturing approach are key to success in this position. The school is committed to ensuring that every student’s individual learning needs are met, focusing on building their academic skills and resilience for future success. As a Teaching Assistant, your focus will be on maximising the impact of your support and enabling students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for students with SEN in both group and individual settings.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that each child feels supported and valued.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to plan and deliver effective learning activities.
- Assist in monitoring students’ progress and contribute to their development, both academically and socially.
- Provide personal care when required and support students with non-verbal communication needs (e.g. Makaton, PECS).
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of students.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A genuine passion for working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively within a team and with students.
- A proactive, flexible, and patient approach to student support.
- Previous experience or a desire to work with children with learning difficulties and autism.
- A background in Education, Care, Psychology, Drama, or other related fields is beneficial, as these are highly transferable skills.
- An openness to learning new strategies, particularly in non-verbal communication (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
- A caring, nurturing nature and the ability to provide personal care to students when necessary.
