Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Wandsworth, who are seeking a Teaching & Learning Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and nurturing individual who is passionate about supporting children’s learning- particularly early reading and phonics.

The Role

• Supporting pupils across the classroom and in small groups
• Delivering and reinforcing early reading and phonics interventions
• Providing sensitive, tailored support to meet individual learning needs
• Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team
• Helping to create a fun, engaging, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Be calm, caring, and patient, even under pressure
• Be resilient, hard-working, and passionate about education
• Have experience supporting early reading and phonics
• Be committed to making learning fun, memorable, and accessible
• Be a reflective practitioner, open to collaboration and professional development
• Be able to make a dedicated contribution to pupils’ academic and emotional progress

Requirements

• A fully enhanced DBS on the Child Workforce Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
• Availability to start immediately following a successful trial day
• Eligibility to work in the UK
