Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking Speech and Language Therapist to join one of our vibrant Mainstream Primary Schools to support a pupil in Year 4 with Speech and Language Disorder (SLD). The school is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and they have managed to maintain that phenomenal rating through three different Ofsted visits. 

We are seeking someone who is able to work closely and support a pupil on a 1:1 basis, assisting in class, around the school building and in their Speech and Language Therapy Sessions. You will need to be confident in using visual aids and flash cards in order to communicate with the pupil. The pupil has an individual timetable which includes enrichment activities and sensory sessions such as Lego therapy in order to help develop the learners social and mental skills.

The requirements for this role:

• Have previous SLCN experience (Speech and Language Communicational Needs) or experience using visual aids/Makaton
• Have previous experience working alongside children with Special Educational Needs
• Have experience supporting children and/or vulnerable adults/young people in a care, residential, school or social (coaching/Nannying) setting
• Have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent (desired, not essential), and have qualifications in core subjects – minimum GCSE level
• Be passionate about working alongside children with Special Educational Needs and dedicated to aiding their academic and behavioural development
