Ortus Recruitment are looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a fun, friendly and warm mainstream primary school in the London Borough of Southwark engaging in various activities and tasks with all children in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering lessons
• Engage in 1:1 and group session with children
• Help children with their homework or class tasks
• Set up and clean the classroom throughout the day (when needed)
• Support children with their physical, mental, emotional and social health (SEMH)
• Communicate with other teachers, parents and all the children
• Carry out administrative tasks like preparing resources for the teacher and help with filing and printing etc
• Help when necessary, with after school clubs and activities
• Support SEN children in groups or 1:1 as well
• Help the children engage in group activities and learning classroom materials

Requirements:

• Experience working with children in a classroom setting preferred (face to face)
• Experience working with SEN children (preferred)
• Experience working with children with SEMH (social, emotional, mental health)
• Dedicated when it comes to working with students with diverse needs
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to difficult situations and behaviours
