ORTUS RECRUITMENT are working alongside a Mainstream Primary School located in the Heart of Southwark, Rotherhithe.

Main responsibilities:

· Working alongside the Class Teacher and other members of support staff within a small SEMH Year 5 class, which consists of 8 pupils.

· The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the pupils with their classwork, sensory activities as well as supervising them whilst their in sessions with professionals in the school building (therapists)

· The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to maintain calm behaviour in the classroom and encouraging pupils to have a positive attitude to learning

· The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the Class Teacher, the school SENCO and the pupils parents/carers to ensure the necessary support is being provided to the pupils

· The successful candidate may be required to undertake administrative duties such as marking work and/or photocopying/laminating class work.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing challenging behaviour, whether it be in a care, school or social setting. Experience working alongside vulnerable adults/young people is also welcome. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and be educated to degree level or equivalent. A natural kind and nurturing nature as well as the ability to be patient and resilient is desired.
