SEN Classroom Assistant
LOCATION: Wandsworth
JOB TYPE: Full-time Long-Term (Monday to Friday)
SALARY: £85.00 – £105.00

Are you and an enthusiastic individual with prior experience working with SEN children? Do you have a genuine interest in helping children in an educational setting. Ortus recruitment are looking for an SEN classroom assistant to help assist the children and head teacher throughout the day. The chosen applicant will have great communication skills, patience and great social awareness.
Job Responsibilities:
Your Job with include supporting the head teacher with planning daily activities, organising the classroom suppliers, helping to clean up throughout the day. You will mainly be supporting the children, especially those with learning difficulties, through 1:1 and group sessions. You may also be asked to do some admin work including photocopying, filing etc. We are also looking for someone who can build relationships with not just the children, but the parents as well. Most importantly, as an SEN classroom assistant you will look after the children, in terms of health, safety and wellbeing.
- Support the head teacher with planning daily activities.
- Works 1:1 with children and small groups to help them learn.
- Support the children with learning difficulties.
- Prepare the classroom for the lessons and helps clean up after.
- Admin activities such as photocopying, filing, displaying work, recording and reporting important notes.
- Build relationships with the parents of the children to ensure good communication and a warm environment.
- Looks after the children’s health, safety, and wellbeing and making sure all harmful tools are kept at a distance from the children.
Requirements:
- Experience and comfortability working with SEN children
- Able to make good connections with teachers, children and parents.
- Sensitivity, patience and dedication when it comes to supporting the children.
