Ortus Recruitment is excited to partner with a reputable primary school in Clapham, which caters for children aged 3-11 years and they seek for an experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This is an exceptional opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic environment, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a pupil with SEMH, working closely with individuals to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential. The school is looking for someone with proven experience in SEMH support, ideally in a primary school or alternative provision setting, who is comfortable working independently and leading 1:1 intervention sessions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that is committed to providing a high-quality, engaging education for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH, helping them manage their emotional and behavioural needs.
- Differentiate and tailor learning activities to meet the individual needs of pupils, ensuring full access to the curriculum.
- Lead small group sessions focused on literacy, numeracy, and social development.
- Support pupils in additional activities such as sports and therapy sessions, promoting engagement and well-being.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
- Assist with behaviour management and contribute to creating a positive, supportive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ideally within a primary school or alternative provision setting. (desired, but not essential)
- Strong understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet the needs of children with SEMH and other additional needs.
- Confidence in leading small group interventions in subjects such as literacy and numeracy.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A proactive and resilient approach, with a commitment to making a positive impact on student outcomes.
- Comfortable participating in sports and physical activities with pupils.
Salary & Benefits:
- £85 – £105 per day, based on experience and qualifications. (No Umbrella Payments/ Hidden Deductions)
