• General Teaching Assistant duties

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant/Learning Mentor to work alongside the Class Teacher in a Year 4 resource based class, supporting children with ASD, SLD and SEMH (challenging behaviour).  The school is Ofted rated ‘Outstanding’ and they boast a supportive and tight knit staff team.

Must have:

• A clear enhanced child workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment –£52
• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a classroom or social setting

Roles and Responsibilities:

• You will be working alongside the Class Teacher to support pupils who have Special Educational Needs – ASD, SLD, SEMH  
• You will be supporting children both in groups and individually within the classroom, ensuring that they are following their individualised timetables
• You will have to liaise with the class teacher, SENCO and parents/carers to ensure that they are receiving the necessary support
• You may have to undertake administrative duties such as marking work, photocopying and laminating worksheets

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children with special educational needs in a classroom or social setting
• A strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, desired not essential
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience and resilience
