• Pay: £95 – £105 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Location: Southwark, Walworth
• Role: Full time, Long term (Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:00)

Here at Ortus Recruitment we have picked up a UNIQUE vacancy at one of our Brand New Client Schools!

This school is a specialist, SEN Provision which caters for both Primary and Secondary aged pupils. They are seeking a SEN Mentor to hold 1:1 and small group interventions with pupils to help develop their sensory, emotional and mental skills. The school is Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and pride themselves on the staff wellbeing and the working relationship amongst staff. The school follow a semi formal curriculum and have cemented enrichment activities, sensory activities, movement breaks and art/music therapy into their daily timetable to try and maintain calm behaviour and offer incentives for good behaviour.

The Requirements:

• Must have experience working alongside SEN Learners in a care, residential, school or social setting
• Must be passionate about working with children and dedicated in helping them develop key life skills
• You must have a kind and nurturing nature
• You must be patient, resilient and able to adapt to challenging situations as well as using effective problem solving skills
• You must be able to commit to full time, long term work
• You must have TWO obtainable childcare relevant references
• You must have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52

Main responsibilities within this role:

• You will be required to lead 1:1 and small group interventions and use activities and games to help aid the development of SEN pupils
• You will be required to liaise with Class Teachers and feedback the progress of the pupils
• You will be required to liaise with the professionals in the school (therapists and SENCO) to ensure the pupils are receiving the necessary support
• You will be tasked with collecting pupils from class and escorting them to the one to one space you will be working in
• You will be tasked with supervising pupils in the lunch hall and playground
