Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in close partnership with a warm and inclusive specialist primary school in Tulse Hill that is dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for pupils aged 8 to 18 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). We are currently seeking a caring, patient, and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their nurturing team on a long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of children who benefit from tailored support and understanding.

The Role:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism and additional needs.
• Assist in delivering structured and engaging learning activities in and out of the classroom.
• Implement personalised strategies that promote communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to ensure consistent support.
• Help with classroom organisation and preparation of specialist learning materials.
• Support pupils during break times, transitions, and school trips.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly valued.
• Familiarity with Autism and effective support strategies is a strong advantage.
• Comfortable using communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or visual schedules (not essential).
• A patient, empathetic approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
• Confident working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
• Qualifications such as Level 2/3 TA or SEN-specific training are desirable but not mandatory.
