Ortus Recruitment are working with a fantastic Mainstream Primary School located in Southwark, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their brilliant staff team.

The school:

The mainstream primary school located in Southwark are looking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to work full time, long term, with the opportunity of a permanent contract over the summer as soon as possible with an immediate start. The school are Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ due to the academic success of their students and the positive learning environment. The successful candidate will be given a tour of the school upon arrival and will be introduced to the pupils their working with as well as the Senior Leadership Team who offer unrivalled support to new staff.

Within this role the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting SEN pupils across the school. You will be situated in two different classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon supporting 2 SEN learners (ASD, ADHD). You will be required to support them with day to day life in the school including assisting them with classwork and helping them to develop emotional and social skills by using a range of sensory activities and games. You will need to provide feedback to the pupils parents/carers at the end of the day and work closely with the class teachers to prepare differentiated work that suits the individual learners needs.

The ideal candidate:

• Will have experience working alongside SEN learners or adults, either in a school, care or social setting
• Will be able to build a positive rapport with pupils and staff
• Will have a strong academic background and have confidence leading 1:1 interventions and small group work to help raise attainment levels in core subjects
• Will have a kind and nurturing nature as well as being resilient and hard working
• Will have an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment (£52).
