SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism & Sensory Support (Year 3)

Location: Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Do you have experience supporting children with autism and sensory needs?
A vibrant primary school in Croydon is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 student with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role focuses on providing a structured, engaging learning environment tailored to the child’s needs.

The Role:

  • Work one-to-one with a Year 3 pupil with autism and sensory processing difficulties.
  • Use visual schedules, now-and-next boards, and structured routines.
  • Support sensory regulation through activities such as movement breaks and fidget tools.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and class teacher to adapt learning materials.
  • Encourage communication using PECS or Makaton (if applicable).

About You:

  • Experience working with children with autism in a school setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of sensory processing strategies and communication tools is an advantage.
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow SEN support plans.
