A nurturing primary school in Croydon is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 child with autism. This role focuses on providing structured learning, emotional support, and communication development.

The Role:

• Work one-to-one with a Year 1 student with autism, helping with classroom engagement.
• Implement visual schedules, social stories, and structured routines.
• Support communication development using PECS, Makaton, or other visual aids.
• Assist with sensory regulation strategies and transitions throughout the school day.
• Work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to create an inclusive learning environment.

About You:

• Experience supporting children with autism is desirable.
• Knowledge of communication aids such as PECS or Makaton is an advantage.
• A patient, calm, and structured approach to support learning and engagement.
• Passion for SEN education and supporting individual learning needs.
