SEN Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school in the London Borough of Hounslow. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children with additional needs while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Role Overview:
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
- Location: Hounslow, West London
- Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible
- Contract: Full-time, long-term
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning plans.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Promote inclusion and help students access the curriculum effectively.
- Foster a nurturing and safe environment that supports the emotional and social development of the pupils.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a classroom or similar setting.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are desirable but not essential.
