SEN Teaching Assistant
A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. The school is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic candidate to support pupils in Year 5 and Year 6, including working with identified learners who have special educational needs. This role will involve both 1:1 support and small group interventions, working alongside teachers and fellow teaching assistants to ensure every pupil receives the support they need.
Please note: While this position may begin with 1:1 support, responsibilities may shift based on school needs. You may be allocated to a class or provide more general classroom assistance as the school continues to grow.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working with children in a school or SEN setting
- Demonstrate strong understanding of child development across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
- Be nurturing, patient, and committed to creating positive learning experiences
- Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents
- Have strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Hold an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Teaching Support, or be willing to work towards it
- Be adaptable, proactive, and able to work well within a collaborative team
- Be willing to assist pupils with basic hygiene needs and support their independence
- Bring enthusiasm, resilience, and a sense of humour to the role
