SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Ortus Recruitment is currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in West London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is caring, patient, and dedicated to making a positive difference in children’s education.

Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across EYFS and Key Stages 1–2 who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will help create a supportive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Help maintain an inclusive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a primary or SEN setting
  • Understanding of different special educational needs and strategies to support them
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, positive, and proactive approach
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
