SEN Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support individuals and groups of students to enable access to learning, contributing to the development and maintenance of a purposeful, nurturing learning environment. The successful candidate will be involved in first aid related matters and have a basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
About The School
Our partnered specialist school is a primary school for children aged 2 to 11 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism (ASD) and complex medical needs. Our partnered school has been open since 2014 and is Ofsted rated Good in 2019.
Responsibilities
- To assist teaching staff to plan and prepare lessons and resources within the school curriculum.
- To make and prepare resources for teaching and therapy staff.
- To reinforce targets throughout the school day.
- To support students both within the class and during unstructured situations.
- To support the teaching and therapy staff to maintain detailed case notes of all children seen.
- To produce and maintain up-to-date pupils’ profile and behaviour plans.
- To follow school procedures in reporting incidents and safeguarding concerns.
- To act as a resource and support for other staff members working with the children.
- To participate in supervision and support as required.
- To maintain continuous professional development.

Requirements:
- A degree or relevant qualifications in Education, Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Drama, or Performing Arts or related field
- Strong understanding of working with children/ young people, e.g., Youth Work, Mentoring, Tutoring, Childcare, Voluntarily
