SEN Teaching Assistant (Early Years)

Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)
- Location: Harlesden, Brent
- Hours: Full-time, Term-time
- Salary: £425 – £500 Weekly PAYE
About the Role:
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with one child with autism, offering personalised support that aligns with their unique learning style, social needs, and sensory preferences. Your role will be essential in helping them access the early years curriculum, fostering their development, and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment. It is important to note, this role will involve elements of personal care as the child is in the process of being toilet trained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support in various activities, focusing on learning, communication, social interaction and personal care.
- Adapt tasks and activities to accommodate the child’s individual needs, enhancing their participation and engagement.
- Assist with social and emotional development by promoting positive interactions with peers and teachers.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and specialists to implement individualised learning strategies.
- Use creative techniques and sensory resources to create a welcoming, stimulating environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or additional needs (desired but not essential).
- A warm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Ability to follow educational health care plans (EHCPs) and behaviour support plans.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Relevant qualification in childcare, special education, or teaching assistance is a plus.
