The Job Information:

· Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

· Pay: £90 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden Agency/Umbrella Company Fees

· Location: Lewisham, Borough

· Role: Full time, Long term, Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

Within this role you will be tasked with helping to support a resource based year 3 class, within a mainstream school. This class has 8 learners, whom all have special educational needs. The needs in this class are ASD, MLD and SLD, the children are nonverbal and require someone with experience using visual aids, PECS and/or Makaton in order to communicate effectively. You will need to liaise with in school professionals (occupational therapists and speech and language therapists) to ensure the pupils are making positive progress and are receiving the necessary support they need. You will also need to work alongside the class teacher and ensure you are following the pupils EHCP (Educational Healthcare Plan). You will also be required to supervise the pupils in the playground and lunch hall, ensuring they are following their individual personal timetable.

The requirements for this role:

· You will need to have previous experience working alongside children with Special Educational Needs and/or have worked alongside vulnerable adults/young people

· You will need to be motivated and resilient as this role can be quite challenging

· You will need to have a strong academic background, educated to degree level or equivalent

· You need to be assertive, patient and motivating

· You need to be able to manage challenging behaviour effectively

· You need to be able to promote positive, social, emotional and personal development

You must have TWO obtainable childcare relevant references

You must have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
