We’re Hiring: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) – Year 3

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Location: Harrow
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time, term-time only
Contract: Ongoing, with potential for long-term placement
About the Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support that helps the child feel safe, regulated and ready to learn. Your role will involve:
- Offering consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Using positive behaviour strategies and emotional-regulation techniques
- Helping the child engage with learning activities and build confidence
- Supporting social skills, resilience and well-being
- Working collaboratively with staff to maintain a supportive environment
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience working with children with SEMH or additional needs
- Show empathy, patience and calm under pressure
- Can build trusting relationships and encourage positive choices
- Use clear, consistent communication
- Are committed to helping children thrive and feel included
Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, safeguarding, behaviour support) is beneficial but not essential—enthusiasm and the right attitude matter most!
