SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support

Location: Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

A specialist SEMH school in Croydon is looking for a confident and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support KS4 students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in education.

The Role:

You will be working with students who may have experienced trauma or exclusion from mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students to support their academic, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Support students in core subjects and practical life skills sessions.
  • Build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff.

About You:

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in high-pressure situations.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
