SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)


Location: Croydon, Greater London
Salary: £85 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. You will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to provide tailored support, help implement individual learning plans, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop essential skills.
  • Assist in adapting lesson materials and resources to suit the individual needs of students, ensuring accessibility for all.
  • Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, working collaboratively with the SEN team.
  • Support the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour, using positive reinforcement and behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic development through targeted interventions and personalised support.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers, the SENCO, and parents.
  • Build strong relationships with students, offering encouragement and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

About You:
We are looking for a patient, resilient, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting students with SEN. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or similar setting.
  • A good understanding of SEN and behaviour management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or childcare are desirable.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is highly valued.
