SEN Teaching Assistant – Sheffield
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Salary: £85–£100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: September 2025
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive school in Sheffield from September 2025.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your role will involve working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to help each child reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
- Support the emotional and behavioural needs of pupils
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
- Monitor pupil progress and report observations to the teaching team
- Promote an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN (in school or other settings)
- Patience, empathy, and a calm, encouraging approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to support pupils with varying levels of need
- A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 3, SEND training, or equivalent) is desirable
