SEND Learning Support Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic SEN school based in Herne Hill. This is a rewarding role where you will help ensure that SEND students are fully supported in their learning journey, promoting inclusion and enabling them to reach their full potential.
In this position, you will work closely with the SENDCo and teaching staff to support individual students and small groups. By implementing targeted strategies and assisting with the educational development of SEND learners, you’ll play an integral role in their academic and personal growth. Monitoring student progress and adjusting support as necessary will also be key aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to SEND students, facilitating their access to learning
- Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and teaching staff to deliver tailored learning strategies
- Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring individual needs are met
- Encourage and motivate students to participate fully in school life, promoting confidence and independence
- Adapt learning materials to suit each student’s needs and abilities, ensuring inclusive learning experiences
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience working with SEND students in a school or educational setting
- Relevant qualifications for learning support (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, or equivalent)
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A proactive and patient approach, with a passion for supporting SEND learners
